Sutton Tools

Sutton tools was founded in 1917 as a family enterprise manufacturing threads and gauges. Today, it remains an Australian family business and has expanded its expertise into a broad portfolio of cutting tools and high-quality power tool accessories.

Sutton Tools manufactures across two sites in Victoria, with the majority of general production at our head office in Thomastown and a more specialised operation centred at our Maryborough facility. We also have overseas production plants in Auckland the Netherlands.

Sutton Tools’ production begins with raw material preparation. We use high-speed steel imported from France and Austria and process this into a workable length and diameter. It is then turned, using computer-controlled machines that are able to complete a number of turning operations in a single manufacturing stage.

We supply tools to a number of industries, including general manufacturing, electronic manufacturing, automotive, medical, mining and power generation. The majority of advancement in material technology however, is occurring in the aerospace, defence and oil & gas industries. The development of ‘super alloys’ for these sectors continuously pushes material performance boundaries as, the tougher these materials become, the tougher the tools need to be.

The state of the art cutting technologies developed for these sectors filter through to the tools Sutton produces for the hardware industry allowing us to deliver optimised tools to the hardware market using our specialised industrial experience. So, whether they’re destined for tradies and DIY enthusiasts or for specialised industrial applications, all of our tools are manufactured from the same high-quality materials.

Our ethos for durable and reliable products above all else is not just a business goal, but a family value that remains today.
